Dick Justice - Cocaine

Här kommer en mycket, mycket märklig animerad film med sången Cocaine spelad av Dick Justice. Denne folk- och bluesmusiker kom från West Virginia i USA och levde mellan 1906 och 1962. Låten skrevs av den svarta bluesmusikern Luke Jordan men vite Justice gjorde alltså en cover med denna något surrealistiska text.

Texten är ju en klassisk berättelse om kokainets negativa effekter på berättarens liv. Han har en kvinna som kommer med droger och mat till honom men det är inte så kul när "the furniture man" kommer och beslagtar hans möbler. Och "Sal with the nose all so'" syftar ju på så kallad kokainnäsa. Men varför bebisarna i New Orleans blir arga när doktorerna sniffar kokain är över mitt förstånd, men det kanske är en referens till det utbredda bruket inom läkarkåren som ju hade tillgång till drogen eftersom det användes som bedövningsmedel.
